What Detox is Like at Hope Valley

Hope Valley’s Alaska Detox Center provides 24-hour care in gender-specific, home-like settings designed for Veterans and Active-duty service members. Our goal is to help each person’s detox be as safe and comfortable as possible. We have a team of nurses, master’s-level therapists, medical assistants, EMTs, and on-call physicians available around the clock. Hope Valley’s Alaska Detox Center has separate houses for men and women for added privacy and peace of mind.

Each house has no more than 6 residents, and amenities include relaxing living rooms, dining rooms, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs in the bedrooms, full kitchens, comfortable mattresses, and fresh linens. Nutritious meals are prepared daily. Private backyard patios are a popular place to relax and connect during the medical detox phase.

Expert Care

The Medically Supervised Detox Process

Medical Detox is the process of abstaining from drugs and/or alcohol and allowing the body time to rid itself of these toxic substances so it can begin to repair itself. Detox is necessary when someone has been using drugs or alcohol for a very long period that they can’t stop without experiencing physical withdrawals. You technically can attempt to detox “cold turkey” on your own; this approach is rarely successful and never recommended.

Life-threatening medical complications can arise during withdrawal if not properly supervised and treated. At Hope Valley’s Alaska Detox Center, most of our veteran and active-duty military clients complete the program in 5 -7 days. After that, you are strongly recommended to continue with Residential treatment, where you will build the coping skills essential for lasting sobriety.

What to Expect

Individuals typically experience symptoms like extreme anxiety, shakiness, cold sweats, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, depression, irritability, fatigue, muscle aches, trembling and headaches during detox. Detox from alcohol can also include life-threatening seizures – it should never be attempted without medical support.

Examples of substances we help veterans and active-duty military detox from include cocaine, heroin, opiates, Vicodin, OxyContin, Percocet, methadone, Suboxone, Klonopin, Xanax, Ambien, Soma, meth, amphetamines, club drugs, marijuana and many other habit-forming drugs. Our doctors are specially trained in addiction medicine and have helped thousands safely detox from drugs and alcohol at Hope Valley Health & Wellness

The Road to Recovery

What Happens After Medically Supervised Detox?

While Hope Valley’s medical detox program ensures a safe cleansing of toxic chemicals from the body with minimal withdrawal symptoms, detox alone does not address intense cravings or prevent relapse. Drug and alcohol addiction is a life-threatening, chronic illness that requires intensive counseling and treatment in a structured setting for veterans and active-duty military members.

At Hope Valley’s Alaska Detox Center, all clients are strongly encouraged to transition immediately into our residential treatment program. We offer 30, 60, and 90-day residential programs focused on relapse prevention, family therapy, and coping skills – all in a supportive Alaska environment tailored to service members’ needs.

Hope Valley stands by the effectiveness of our detox and rehab programs, understanding that relapse is common in recovery – which is why we offer ongoing support for lasting sobriety.

FAQs

How Can I Pay for Treatment?

Many alcohol and drug rehab centers advertise that “insurance is accepted,” but the fine print often reveals you must bill your insurance yourself. This means they are not preferred providers, leaving you responsible for the full cost upfront - a major risk when facing tens of thousands in expenses during early recovery.
At Hope Valley, we make payment simple and secure for veterans and active-duty military:

VA Direct Referral
Most veterans come directly from the VA. We'll handle your referral and authorization.

TriWest / Self-Pay Welcome
All veterans accepted via TriWest or self-pay - 100% coverage, zero out-of-pocket.

Active Duty TRICARE
TRICARE accepted for active-duty clients. Seamless verification.

At Hope Valley, there is no fine print when we say your coverage is accepted. We verify benefits for veterans and active-duty military, telling you exactly what out-of-pocket expenses to expect during pre-admission.

We never charge more than your copay or deductible for covered services and maximize authorizations from TriWest or TRICARE.

Billing your insurance is handled entirely by us, so you can focus on recovery. Many plans cover up to 100% of costs with zero out-of-pocket. Call for a confidential verification and begin your journey today.

If you do not have insurance or prefer self-pay, please reach out for a confidential call to discuss treatment options and costs for veterans and active-duty military at Hope Valley.
