Hope Valley Health & Wellness (formerly referenced in announcements) is officially open. The veteran-focused residential treatment center in Wasilla, Alaska, celebrated its grand opening and ribbon-cutting.
The facility offers detox, trauma care, and substance use rehabilitation exclusively for veterans and active-duty military.
The center is located on two private acres in Wasilla and features small, gender-separated homes accommodating up to 6 residents each. Therapeutic services include massage therapy, cold plunges, red-light therapy, yoga, and experiential programs like partnerships with Battle Dawgs. They accept TRICARE and TriWest insurance.

While the Hope Valley Health and Wellness center will officially open on April 20, the ribbon-cutting marked a significant milestone for the facility. The center is specifically designed to address a critical need for in-state care for Alaska’s veterans, focusing on treating the “invisible wounds” of service, including substance use, PTSD, and moral injury.
Situated on two private, rural acres in the heart of the Mat-Su, the facility was designed to be a sharp contrast to the chaotic, often isolating experience of trauma. Currently, the campus features four residential houses, two for men and two for women, designed to be intimate and supportive, with no more than five or six residents per house. The staff, Lakin says, are either connected to a veteran or served themselves. “We’re excited. We’ve got the staff, we’ve got the people, we’ve got the heart.”

Hope Valley Health and Wellness offers residential care for veterans dealing with challenges like PTSD and addiction.
Jessy Lakin with Hope Valley Health and Wellness says the goal is to keep Alaska veterans in-state receiving care in a familiar setting.
“We’ll start with detox and then we’ll go into residential. And then if they need to be connected to a long-term program, sober living facilities will be able to connect them into the community as well,” Lakin said.
The goal is not just to treat substance use, but to address the underlying trauma.
